This church was built in the year 1840 with two roman style bell towers. This church is dedicated to viagulamatha and it is one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in India. This church is located in East veli street in Madurai. It is situated about 2Kms from railway station.
This is one of the distinct places to be visited in Madurai. Rani Mangamma's palace has been renewed and converted into Gandhi museum. The museum displays information about Gandhi and the things used by Gandhi. Most importantly the museum contains the blood strained cloth of Gandhi when he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse.
This palace was built by the King Thirumalai Nayak in 1636AD. This palace is considered to be one of the wonders of south India. Thirumalai nayakar palace is declared as a national monument and now is under the maintenance of Tamilnadu Archaeological department. The palace has lot of pillars and the domes of the palace are decorated with beautiful paintings.
There are six abodes of Lord Muruga known as "Arupadai veedu". This temple is one of the six abodes of Lord muruga and it is situated 8 Kms south of Madurai. This temple is basically a cave temple and is known from the sangam times. The caves have lot of carvings in it and it is very difficult to find such cave temple elsewhere in India. The specialty of this temple is also sung by sangam period poets in Tamilnadu.
